Biography

Eugene W. Tsai, MD

Pediatric and Adult Asthma, Allergy, and Immunology

Biography

To tell you a little about myself, I grew up in Southern California.  I graduated from UCLA with a B.S. in molecular, cellular, and developmental biology.  I received my medical degree from Albany Medical College in New York.  My internship was completed at Mattel Children’s Hospital at the UCLA Medical Center. I finished my training in pediatrics at Children’s Hospital of Orange County.  I went on to complete a fellowship in adult and pediatric allergy and immunology at the University of California at Irvine.  During my training, I had the opportunity to see both children and adults at the UCI Medical Center and Long Beach Veterans Administration Hospital.

I am board certified in allergy and immunology by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology.  I am a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.  I have made presentations at the national meetings of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology and the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology.  I have staff privileges at several hospitals including Little Company of Mary in San Pedro, Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital in Whittier, Children's Hospital of Orange County, and the UCI Medical Center.   Currently, I teach allergy and immunology as a assistant clinical professor at the UCI Medical Center.  In 2008, I served as the Vice President of the Orange County Society of Clinical Allergy and Immunology.   Languages spoken in our office include English, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, and Taiwanese.

After spending years working in different types of healthcare systems,  we have chosen the micropractice as our model for our medical practice. So, what is a micropractice?  It is a combination of traditional subspecialty medical care  and concierge style medical practice. It is based on the idea of providing better quality medical care by focusing on a smaller number of patients.  Since the number of patients seen in our practice is intentionally set at a lower number compared with more traditional medical practices, we have more time for meaningful doctor-patient interaction to understand complex medical problems, to give instructions on treatment plans, and to suggest strategies for prevention. Unlike most concierge or boutique medical clinics, we do not require a membership fee and we accept most PPO and some HMO insurances.

I look forward to meeting with you soon,

Eugene W. Tsai, MD
